Rachel Burns

Vice President, Item Processing

Responsible for the oversight of the daily operations in the imaging department of Fi-DATA, Rachel has 24 years of experience in progressive banking technology.  Rachel’s community banking career began in 1984 at The Middle Tennessee Bank in Columbia, TN as a proof operator.  Over the course of the next 14 years, she worked in all aspects of banking operations, from computer operations to accounting.  Rachel came to Fi-DATA in 1999 in computer operations and was promoted later that year to assistant manager of the check imaging department.  In June of 2003, she advanced to manager and assistant vice-president, and in July of 2007 was promoted to Vice President.

At Fi-DATA Rachel oversees a staff of nine employees and handles customer service phone calls that pertain to image exchange, Federal Reserve testing, statement rendering, printing, e-mail notification and mailing.  This department processes over two million items each month, including all check transactions, preparing images for storage in Fi-DATA’s state of the art document archive system, printing and mailing customer statements, and preparing and sending e-mail statements.

Rachel has seen banking technology grow exponentially over her career.  “It has come a long way with branch capture and image exchange.  Now banks themselves have the work processed and in balance for us to receive and electronically send to the Federal Reserve Bank in a timely manner, eliminating the need and cost for couriers.”
