William H. “Bill” Crabtree, Sr.

Lincoln County native Bill Crabtree began his career as a state bank examiner in 1947 and later joined First American National Bank’s correspondent department in 1955. He attended The School of Banking of the South and graduated in 1959. Crabtree served as Chairman, President and CEO of Union National Bank in Fayetteville, TN from 1968 to 1989. During his tenure, the bank’s assets increased from $14 million to $135 million.
Crabtree was a member of the Financial Institutions Advisory Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, National SBA Advisory Council and was director of the Tennessee Bankers Association. He served as President of the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Motlow State Community College Foundation and Adviser of the University of Tennessee’s Space Institute. Crabtree is a Korean War veteran and Al Meneh Shriner, and was recently named a Leader in Banking Excellence by the Tennessee Bankers Association.
